Email Validation in Concours Pro

Contents

What is Email Validation?

Concours Pro’s email validation feature checks the validity of email addresses to ensure deliverabilty. Email validation checks for:

  • Correct email syntax
  • Domain readiness to receive emails
  • Existence of the email address
  • High-risk address checks
  • Non-role-based addresses (e.g., no )

Email validation is highly recommended as it improves delivery rates and list hygiene, boosts email marketing metrics and helps protects sender reputation. If you acquire, import or updating your mailing list you should perform validation before sending emails.

Email validation is a paid feature. See our current usage rates here: Concours Pro usage rates.

Email Validation Status

In the contact view you will see a status next to the contacts email address.

  • Red: Invalid or bounced email.
  • Green: Verified email.
  • Yellow: Not Yet Verified email.

Automatic Email Validation

Automatic email validation will validate a contacts email address before sending to it the first time.

Re-validation occurs automatically if the validation is older than 90 days.

To enable automatic email verification:

  1. Go to Settings > Business Profile > General
  2. Tick the box Verify Email Address when first email is sent to a new contact to switch on Automatic Email Verification.

Manually Verifying Emails

In The Contact

  1. Go to Contacts, and click into a contact.
  2. Under Email, click Verify Here to verify email, or Re-Verify if it has already been verified previously.
  3. Tick the box Exclude from email verification to not verify this contacts email in the future.

Bulk Email Verification

  2. Select the contacts that you wish to verify.

  2. Find the action as you named it previously.
  3. Click Show Stats (as in the screen shot below this changes to Hide Stats once clicked.)
  4. This will display the number of Valid, Invalid and Error validation attempts.
  5. Click on any one of these numbers to bring up the Bulk Email Verification Stats.
  6. In the Bulk Email Verification Stats window, click on the tabs All, Valid, Invalid and Error to show those email addresses.
  7. Click into individual contacts to remove or edit emails, or exclude from future verification if it is known to be a good email address.
  8. Click Export to Export a CSV of your email verification bulk action.

Bulk Email Verification Statuses

Valid: The email is validated and good to send to.
Invalid: The Email is unable to be validated and cannot be sent to – email does not exist or is unable to accept incoming mail.
Error: A temporary error has occurred such as SMTP time-out, (Slow network between the system and recipients mail server), and means it cannot be verified at this time. The email address must be reverified before email sending can resume.

To Get Around Invalid or Error Status and Send Email Anyway

Be aware of the very real risks to your email sending reputation if you choose to ignore email verification, and get marked as spam or email is undeliverable (hard bounces).

  1. If you understand and accept the risks, and wish to send anyway, turn Automatic Email Verification OFF, or Tick Exclude from email verification.
  2. Attempt to resend your email.
