What Is Number Intelligence?
Number Intelligence in Concours Pro is a set of tools designed to make your phone calls and SMS communications smoother, more cost-effective, and reliable. It checks phone numbers to ensure they work as expected, helping you avoid wasted effort and protect your business reputation. Here’s what it includes:
- Spam Detection: Spots risky incoming calls from unknown US numbers and tags them as “Spam Likely” in your call logs and conversations. You can use this in automations or to guide your team’s focus.
- Name Lookup: Grabs the name of unknown US callers, so your CRM has complete records and your team can personalise call handling.
- SMS Marketing (Number Validation): Checks if a phone number can receive SMS worldwide before sending your first message. This happens when an SMS is queued, not when you add a contact. If it’s a landline, Concours Pro won’t send the message, saving you from failed deliveries.
Why Use Number Intelligence?
Using Number Intelligence helps your business run more efficiently and keeps your communications on point. Here’s how it benefits you:
- Saves time by stopping your team from answering spam calls.
- Boosts call answer rates by focusing your team on real leads, not spam.
- Improves customer experience by letting you greet callers by name.
- Increases SMS delivery rates by only sending messages to valid numbers, keeping your metrics healthy.
How to Turn Number Intelligence On or Off
To switch Number Intelligence on or off, head to Settings > Phone Numbers > Advanced Settings > Number Intelligence in the Concours Pro web app.
Tick the box to enable or disable it.
When turned on, all three features—Spam Detection, Name Lookup, and SMS Marketing (Number Validation)—work together.
Turning it off deactivates all three.

Handling Spam Calls
Calls flagged by Spam Detection are marked as “Spam Likely” in the web dialer when they come in and tagged in the Contacts tab for clarity.
You’ll see these in your call logs and conversations, so you can decide how to handle them.
Common Questions
What happens if I turn off Number Intelligence?
If you disable it, Concours Pro stops checking for spam, looking up names, and validating SMS numbers. Calls and SMS will go through as normal, but you might see more spam, miss caller names, and have lower SMS delivery rates if messages are sent to invalid numbers.
Can I pick and choose which Number Intelligence features to use?
As of December 2024, all three features—Spam Detection, Name Lookup, and SMS Marketing (Number Validation)—are switched on or off together. You can’t enable them separately.
Does Number Intelligence work outside the US?
Spam Detection and Name Lookup only work for US phone numbers, regardless of your account’s location. SMS Marketing (Number Validation) works for numbers worldwide.
How does Concours Pro handle spam calls?
Spam calls are tagged as “Spam Likely” in call logs and conversations. You can add these numbers to an inbound DND list to block them moving forward.
Will I know if a call is flagged as spam?
Yes, spam calls are tagged as “Spam Likely” in your call logs and the Contacts tab, so you’re always in the loop.
